  2.     COMPARE SNAPSHOTS
  3.  
  4.     You can compare the state of the current partition (snapshot) to
  5.     that of one from a previous moment in time. You are able to view
  6.     summaries of changes, see detailed lists of changes, and look for
  7.     changes based on a search criteria. To compare an existing snapshot
  8.     to a previously saved one, highlight the disk partitions
  9.     (filesystems) you want to compare and click on the Compare Snapshot
  10.     button to run the comparison.

  12.     To compare against a named snapshot, click on the No button under
  13.     the Compare to Master column. Then, enter the name of the previously
  14.     saved snapshot in the appropriate Saved Snapshot field. You can also
  15.     click on the arrow button on the right to bring up a window
  16.     containing a list of all saved snapshots for that partition and
  17.     select one of them.

  19.     Note: Partitions of the same name, but from different systems, can
  20.     be compared. For example, the / partition from the host athens can
  21.     be compared to the / partition from the host paris. You can use this
  22.     to help maintain consistency of static partitions (partitions that
  23.     should not change much) across hosts.

  25.     Finally, you also need to choose how you want to compare the
  26.     snapshots by selecting one of this window's buttons:

  28.     + Summary Get a summary of the changes
  29.     + File List Get a list of all changes
  30.     + Search Search further for certain types of changes

  34.     Click on the Summary button to view a summary of the changes. Each
  35.     user who had a file changed is listed in this window, as shown in
  36.     the example below.

  40.     Click on the File List button to see a detailed list of all files
  41.     that have been changed in some way. Every file that has changed (as
  42.     listed in "Summary" on page 5-30) is detailed in this window, as
  43.     shown in the example on the following page.

  45.     Often times, this report consists mostly of files that have been
  46.     read. Consequently, the report can be very large. You may want to
  47.     first run a Summary (see "Summary" on page 5-30) or Search for
  48.     changes (see "Search" on page 5-33) before using the File List
  49.     option.

  53.     Since many changes can occur to a partition over time, you may only
  54.     want to look for specific types of changes. Click on the Search
  55.     button to define a search criteria for the comparison you want to
  56.     make. A window will appear providing a comprehensive set of search
  57.     fields.
